Re: Tarantula Hawk

atomicoyote, Ah ok! I had never heard of the wasp term before, only hawk, so I was curious to know if they were actually different critters. Yeah they are pretty noticeable when you see one close to you with those big orange wings. I heard their sting is not poisonous but it apparently hurts like a ...

Re: Tarantula Hawk

atomicoyote, you are right about that, I have actually seen a tarantula hawk dragging a tarantula into a hole in the ground on two occasions now in San Diego. I thought it was so cool, I excitedly showed it to a couple walking by and the girl freaked out and ran away screaming. It was quite a sight....

Re: Death March

Hey Jim, how many miles approximately do you think would be cut out of the 65 if one was to take the purple alternate route, starting from Devil's Punchbowl? Looks like it could be quite a bit. Maybe 10? Taco, that does sound like a lot of work, haha. Maybe not this time. I am down for what you ment...

Re: Death March

Hey amigos, I figured I would hear something from you both! HJ, you never fail to disappoint with your mapping creativity. I personally prefer the start from Devil's Punchbowl and then following the rest of your Trans SG trail. Although 65 miles? I was thinking of a single push kind of adventure. Th...

Re: Three T's + Ontario & Bighorn

Hey Richard, good to hear, maybe we said hi to each other! It was a nice day out there too. Well the trail from Timber to Telegraph got weird a few times; it would kind of disappear between small ravines created by that storm. I actually kind of gave up on it at some point and just decided to follow...

Three T's + Ontario & Bighorn

I had an awesome day yesterday in the San Gabriel mountains. I got out of my car around 6 am and hiked up the icehouse canyon trail to the saddle. I then headed to thunder mountain. I looked at my watch there and it was a few minutes short of 9 am. I ran/hiked my way back, adding the peaks of telegr...

Haha, I also saw those dogs running around Manker Flats on Sunday. It was really cool to see them since I had read this thread just the day before ;) They did not follow us up the hill though! https://eispiraten.com/images-archived/lh5.googleusercontent.com/--s47wtNCY4s/UPSQabvvSPI/AAAAAAAAJR8/1vs8j...

Very cool simonov! This is really helpful and I for one will surely use it.

You could keep going with other big nearby peaks, and so on, then eventually make it into a small book/ebook!

Re: REI Dividend - It's finally here!

It'd be cool if REI put up a "Convert dividend and donate to Red Cross" button on the website. That'd make it easy to avoid additional temptation, but as of now I've just spotted a pair of Merrell Trail Gloves...hmm... Hehehe, that would be a great idea indeed. I would even donate my rema...
