Continuing with my Whitney training, I finally conquered San B! This was one very long, tough hike. Thank Goodness there were a few sections of the trail that were flat and I could catch my breath. This hike is no joke. I started to feel some of the altitude sickness as I approached the peak, but I quickly overcame it and summited. Needless to say, this is one gorgeous trail with spectacular views all around. I started off with a steady pace with no intention of trying to race to the top because it's been awhile since I've hiked an elevation over 10K. Anyways, the good news, lots of water is flowing at the spring just past Limber Pines campground. However, I did not know this prior to my trip. So, I carried lots of water but stashed a liter at the halfway point. Overall, it was a good training hike. I took advantage of every opportunity. I had time to stop at the bench, soak in the gorgeous views and check out the pile of rocks by the Washington monument. I was there on Wednesday, and only saw 4 people on the trail. Stats: 18 miles, 4700'gain. San G

Great trainer! The San Bernardino 10ks are the best prep for Whitney IMO. I remember the best views were from below the summit.

If you can summit SB you can summit Whitney unless the altitude gets you.

Good job! I love looking down Baseline Road from the Washington Monument.
I usually camp at Limber Pine Bench, so doing the whole thing in one shot is impressive!
