Eric, Those are some outstanding pictures and that's a epic days work. I'll be even more impressed if you can show me how you gained 7,300 feet on that route and those summits, I just mapped it with Mapmyhike and I've done those summits and even if you regained all the summits twice (except Mount Is...

I've never seen people work that fast - they get shit done  :D

I always think it's important to say "Thanks" everytime I see them working in the wilderness, they have a dedication and enthusiasm without compare - very hard work, good job I say and thanks for all you do.

Is a "7175" a second visit to the pyche ward, after you've had your 5150?

They give you 20% more attention and 25% more sedation?

After some of the adventures that this group has done, I may be interested in one of those  :D seeing how the 5150 didn't work

Nice work Amanda and Taco - looks like another fun outing, had I not been extremely tired from the previous three days I would have found a way to make it work but I needed a down day. MPO may become a new lexicon for me - Massive Poison Oak, I need that like a sharp stick in the eye - the second on...

Nice catch, they are very elusive - I've only see two in 7 years, one in SD county parking at a PCT trailhead, came around the corner and almost hit him on a dirt road and just above the Portal on Whitney, one ran across the rocks that are at a 50 degree angle parallel with upper falls, he/she never...

It's been a few years but I've hiked the Gab from Chantry to JPL twice, it was in good shape both times but that was 2008 and 2009. Great TR, sorry for all the craziness - my guess is that the closure is because it's part of the "Stantion Fire" closure. Maybe HikingJim or someone else has ...

Rick, would it have mattered if you yourself had snowshoes?

Nice shots, thanks for the TR :D

That's some beautiful country up there, did a river rafting trip in 2006 on the Rogue - the forest there is extremely thick. I'm thinking it would have been more "Humane" for the dog to have eaten the masters - anyone that goes into that thick of forest without knowing where they are at ar...

From the location of most of the PO I've come to realize that the "Hello Kitty Bag" was covered in it, the strap around my neck left a huge amount there, then under each arm where I carried it and along my mid-section where it moved back and fourth - it's not the only thing that spread it ...

That looks good! Dumb question: when you place ice screws, do you get them back later or are they left there? CM - they screw out just like they screwed in, I had the same question before I saw them being used. When the ice is in good condition they are fairly easy to place and remove, what's impor...

Cougar Magic, there's an article in the OC register about the kitty's.

I grabbed it from Hal on the San Jacinto Board.

Sweet, thx for your reply. :-) I was thinking of carrying over 4 liters of water with me. Do you think that would be sufficient? Depends on how much you consume on warm/hot days. Use Bear Flat as a reference it's not as steep & not as hot on a given day what you use there can be rough guide add...

It's super draining in the heat, there's very little areas below 6,000 for shade, I would suggest if you are heat sensitive like I am to go even sooner - even at night it's fairly hot hike. Might try doing Skyline (the part that goes from desert floor to Tram) once before doing the Cactus to Clouds ...
