Re: SNOW - Questions, Forecasts & Reports About Snow

I see we have snow in the San Gabes now. I was thinking of doing a couple peaks in the Cucamonga Wilderness this month and was wondering what you folks thought the snow would be like? I was hoping not to need snowshoes. Is it too late for that?

Re: Old Mount Emma, Mount Emma, Cole Point and Mount Gleason

That looks like a 600 yard shooting range at 34°26'11.46"N 118° 4'15.94"W. It would be a little scary walking the ridge above that range.

Heh, small world. I think you were the fellow who first suggested it looked like a walking stick. It was entirely...

Re: Hunters

Suffice it to say that target shooting is in fact illegal in our local National Forests except in established formal firing ranges. I believe this is the case for all of Los Angeles County. I do all my informal range shooting in the desert in San Bernardino County. the extreme trash problem and the...

Travis' videos: how did he do them?

Most of you have probably seen Travis' videos here: http://www.gpsmountaineering.com/mountaineeringvideos Some of them are pretty harrowing! On all or most of them he seems to have the camera attached to his body or to a helmet, since his hands are obviously free for scrambling. I am thinking of rig...
